Centerpieces

Making centerpieces started several years ago after I was invited to a program called Truly Christmas. It is a beautiful event where the ladies of the church put on a wonderful program and dinner for other ladies from the community to raise money for charity.

Here are some of the centerpieces I’ve made over the years.

Fireman Nativity

So hard to really show what it looked like in the pictures. The star lit up and shone down the rods. There was also a light that shone right down on baby Jesus from under the star. The firemen, fire hats, sheep, and Jesus are sculpted out of clay.

Winter Cabin

This cabin is made out of builders foam. Each side of it is sculpted, sanded and painted. Then they were all joined together. The roof is just corrugated cardboard, painted to look like a rusty tin roof. The chimney – that actually works – is made out of plaster, then the stones are sculpted and painted. (You can see the smoke coming out of the chimney in the first photo.) The lights inside flicker, as if there is a fire in the fireplace, and a happy feline sits in the window. There are wolves and a bear on the outside, as well as a little bunny by the mailbox.

The first year I used the cabin, these little hand-made chairs (out of sticks from my backyard) were the table favors. They were each one personalized with mail addressed to them.

The next few times I used the cabin, I painted a little winter scene on a paper mache’ Christmas ornament for each lady.

A Penguin Christmas

Hand made tree. The penguins are all sculped out of clay.

This ornament (above right) was the favor for the table the first year of this centerpiece.

Giant Snow Globe

This is one that needs to be seen in person for sure. You can’t see it, but there is glitter suspended in the globe. It truly looked like a snow globe put on pause! A fun centerpiece for any winter occasion, and anyone can do this.

Leave a message if you would like a detailed description of what I did here.

Can you provide instructions on how to make the beautiful snowglobe centerpiece with the suspended glitter? Looking to do this for a winter auction.
    Thanks! It is beautiful!
